BURGIN LAMBERT
ARCHITECTS
FIRM
Burgin Lambert Architects specializes in regional, creative architecture that is site specific and responsive to our clients’ programmatic requirements. The firm designs structures that fit harmoniously into their natural and built environs for coastal, rural and urban contexts. We have extensive coastal experience achieving design excellence in both commercial and residential waterfront projects.
We custom design and restore residences of all sizes, multi-family dwellings, offices, shopping centers, municipal buildings, and beach facilities. Although residential projects may range in size from affordable 900 square feet to some as large as 10,000 square feet, their gracious details are combined with clever functionality to maximize and incorporate the distinctive features of each structure and construction site.
Our firm has received numerous citations for design excellence from such professional organizations as: the American Institution of Architects, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the National Association of Home Builders, the National Association of General Contractors, and many local and national publications. These honors were earned by listening to the clients' needs, understanding the nuances of the program and site, and an unusual dedication to artistic creativity and the practical constraints of the projects.
The two principals in the firm, William L. Burgin and Robert H. Lambert, Jr. actively work on every project in the office, creating continuous clear communication between clients and the firm.
WILLIAM BURGIN
Principal
Mr. Burgin began his architectural apprenticeship in 1967 as an undergraduate at Franconia College, New Hampshire where he was involved in design and construction of many buildings including a new dormitory for the college. This early apprenticeship led to other design and construction projects in the Franconia area until transferring to the Rhode Island School of Design in 1969. There in addition to his studies he continued his design/build activities, completing many projects in the Rhode Island and New Hampshire areas. His first-hand construction background enables a working relationship with contractors and craftsmen that is understanding, yet exacting. Following graduation from the Rhode Island School of Design and employment with architectural firms in Rhode Island, he started his own practice, in 1975 which has evolved into the firm of Burgin Lambert Architects, Inc.
